She comes from a non-entertainment family. She was a student at Wardlaw-Hartridge School, and following the separation of parents the year 1990 then went on to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and eventually graduated with a bachelor's degree in comparative arts. When she was 12 when she started her career as an actor in a production of the Christmas musical "Amahl And The Night Visitor".
